Álvaro Arbeloa, ambassador of Real Madrid and its Foundation, unveiled the club's new collaboration agreement with the Texas Academy of Soccer to implement a new educational consultancy project in Houston (USA). The Foundation's Educational Football Program is intended to complement the academic curriculum of school-age students and has been running since 2017 with sports and educational institutions around the world, where sports development is of special relevance.
The coaching programme is targeted at schoolchildren already involved in the football, with the aim of improving sporting and personal aspects. The pupils are aged between 12 and 17. The Educational Football Program begins in the first quarter of 2022 with 300 youngsters taking part at The Grand Sports Club in cooperation with the Texas Soccer Academy.
The goal is to reach 1,000 children by 2025 by opening our own facilities at Iowa Colony Houston by the end of 2022 to provide educational opportunities for everyone. This will also contribute to the sustainability of the social sporting projects of education, integration and cooperation for development that the Real Madrid Foundation runs in the USA.
Socio-sports clinics and schools
Despite the pandemic, last season the Foundation developed almost 30 football clinics in the USA and 14 socio-sports schools for the integration of socially disadvantaged children through football.
