The youth team didn't manage to put any points on the board in their trip to Shakhtar Donetsk in a game in which the referee failed to award a penalty for a challenge on Peter.

The Juvenil A side succumbed to their first defeat of the Youth League campaign in their trip to Shakhtar Donetsk in a contest that was decided in the last five minutes of the first half. In the second period, the madridistas appealed for a penalty following a challenge on Peter, but the referee was unmoved. The contest got off to an even start, but our team hit the front with 10 minutes on the clock following a fine counter-attacking move in which Julen drove forward from the middle third, before feeding Peter, who cut inside a defender on the edge of the area and unleashed a powerful left-footed effort to make it 1-0 to the visitors. Madrid sought to add to their lead but the Ukrainian’s backline stood firm.

Shakhtar restored parity with 30 minutes on the clock through Hluschenko, who nodded home an inviting cross from the left. In the final five minutes of the half, both teams poured forward in attack and the goals duly materialised. David was first to net as he restored the madridistas’ advantage when he gobbled up a rebound after Puzankov parried away a fine overhead effort from Gonzalo. The hosts wasted little time in hitting back and Siheiev equalised just a minute later. With the 45 minutes now up, Hulko completed the home side’s comeback with a fierce shot from inside the box that flew past Rubén.

Lady luck fails to shine on Madrid
Hernán Pérez’s came out after the restart intent on turning the scoreline on its head. The team’s attacking play was focused down the right and the visitors appealed for a penalty on Peter in the 49th minute, only for the referee to wave play on. After the hour mark, Buleza tried his luck with an effort from range. In the very next move, David came a whisker away from levelling things up when he headed Bruno’s cross over the bar. Madrid now had the hosts pinned back, but time and time again, the goalkeeper was equal to the madridistas’ efforts. He produced an impressive diving save to deny Bruno’s free-kick in the 71st minute, before clawing a Marvin shot off the line following a corner just five minutes later. Despite the madridistas’ perseverance, no further goals were ultimately forthcoming.
