NEWS | 12/10/2021"We're really looking forward to the game", added Kenti Robles.
“We've got a great squad. The players are standing up and being counted and are doing a really fine job. Indeed, we’ve won our last two games. It’s all down to them and the hard work, commitment and the level of demand they face every single day”.
“We try to adapt to the characteristics of the players who are available. What we won't be changing is our playing system; we like to get on the ball, dominate the games and press in the opposition's half. When the players who are currently out injured are fit, we’ll have more options and it'll be far better for us”.
“They’re one of the top 16 sides in Europe. This is our debut season in the competition and we go into the games with humility and respect for all of the teams that we come up against. The other day they ran PSG very close. They kept the score down to 1-0 (to the visitors) up until the 85th minute against one of the best teams in Europe. They're a side that’ll come here looking to get a positive result. They're very well organised and defend very well as a unit in their own half. They pose a real threat on set pieces and transitions. We’ll be looking to play on the front foot, boss possession and create a lot of chances and try and get ourselves in front as early as possible”.
“Right since our first qualifying match, we’ve been really excited and have enjoyed ourselves in this competition. It’s the first time that we’re competing in this competition and we have the motivation to try and get as far as we can. We just take things one game at this time and it's true that there's a special buzz around the place in these Champions League weeks. We're really enjoying the experience”.
“The results obviously haven't gone our way. I believe that we haven't been all that far off picking up more points than what we have. It’s not been a case that we’ve been outperformed by the teams we've come up against. The injuries are just another handicap, but there are no excuses from us. We got our first league win the other day and let's hope it's the first of many”.
“There's something very special about the madridista fans, particularly on these Champions League nights. We already experienced that in the game here against Manchester City. Let's hope that all of the night games at the stadium are special ones. We hope that, as they always do, the fans get behind us and show why they’re the best fanbase in the world. They really do give us a big helping hand because they always come down and get behind us. I hope to see lots of fans in the stands and that we can put a real show on for them”.
Kenti: “They’re a really solid group, they’re not where they are by chance”
“We're really looking forward to tomorrow night's game and I can see that we’re all raring to go. We've trained really well in the last few days. I just can't wait to get out there. We've watched quite a few videos of the opposition from their game against PSG. They put in a really strong performance and are a very solid group, it's not by chance that they are where they are. Their biggest threat is on set pieces”.
“To score against Manchester City meant a great deal to me. I was lucky enough that my brother was here and I got to see him jump with joy. It still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I think about it. The format of the Champions League is really attractive for the fans and for us. I've always said that women's football is the present and it's the future now too”.
“You can really tell on the pitch when the fans and our family are in the stands. I felt them willing us on and getting behind us. We’re fortunate enough that they can attend and I feel privileged. When we feel as if we can't run anymore, they give us the strength to keep going and fight for every ball”.
