Aznar: “We want to get a good result in the opening Champions League game"

"I'm really happy to be experiencing this with Real Madrid , declared Peter.
David Aznar and Babett Peter addressed the media in the pre-match press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s opening game in the Women’s Champions League against Kharkiv (6:45pm CET). The boss previewed the contest in the following terms: “We're aware of the hard work we put in to get to this stage and we're excited. We want to compete with the 16 top teams in Europe during this group stage. It's a new competition for us and we know that we've got some major absentees, but we've got a competitive squad. We head into this game feeling confident about coming up against our opponents”.

“We've had a lot of games in quick succession. The players who represent this crest deserve praise for the effort that they’re putting in. They go into every game with the highest level of demands. There are no excuses when you wear this shirt. We're really excited to achieve a good result in our first Champions League game”.
“We’re competing alongside the top 16 teams in Europe and every one of them has the right to be here. We know just how tough our group is going to be. We want to make a name for ourselves in this competition. We analysed the opponents, who have shown themselves to be much superior to the teams they’ve faced to reach this stage. They’re a team who really master quick transitions, set pieces and they’re a side that’ll pose us big problems on their own patch”.

Peter: "We're among the 16 best teams in Europe and it's a challenge for us".

“To get through the group stage we’ll have to be competitive in all areas of the game. It'll be a tough game because we're away from home in what's our first match and we’re up against strong opposition. We’re raring to put in a great performance and get the first three points in this group stage”.
Peter: “We’ll have to be strong”
“We’ve had a lot of games this season, but it's an opportunity to play in this competition because we love football. We're delighted. The team has a lot of experience in the Champions League. We're focused on the game and we'll have to be strong”.

“It won't be an easy game because Kharkiv are a dangerous side. We have to focus on controlling the game and creating opportunities as a team. We've got a good squad. We'll have to all work together and fight out there against a good team and focus on our strengths. Those are the keys to it. We have to enjoy the moment because it's the first time that many of our players are playing in the Champions League. It's a privilege and I'm really happy to be experiencing this with Real Madrid”.

“We're among the 16 best teams in Europe and it's a challenge for us. PSG are the favorites in the group, but we're going to try our best and will improve over time. We'll do as best we can in the group and will be going all out for the three points”.
