Casillas welcomed by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, the Foundation's partner in the region

Almost 1,000 children in Israel, Jordan and the West Bank and Gaza Strip participate in the nine social sports projects.
After nine years of collaboration between the two institutions, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Monsignor Pierbattista Pizzaballa, has welcomed Iker Casillas, deputy director general of the Real Madrid Foundation, to the Jerusalem headquarters. The Foundation's partnership with the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem involves nine social sports schools in different locations in Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian territories of Gaza and the West Bank, serving almost a thousand children who, for a variety of geographical, historical, political and religious reasons, have seen their lives affected in a very direct way by the conflicts.

Casillas, in his words of thanks, spoke of these pioneering projects in which Christian, Jewish and Muslim children live together, sharing football and values, and highlighted that "the common and universal language of sport, especially football, seeks to be a tool that will help them to overcome these circumstances and take on the future with hope".

Monsignor Pizzaballa: "Your collaboration is very much appreciated"
"Our children, both Muslim and Christian, enjoy both sports and learning to interact with each other, which is important for their healthy and holistic education. Your collaboration is very much appreciated, over the years it has been huge, even during the pandemic when our activities were halted".
