Real Madrid beats its record for games played in a season

Laso's men have contested 84 match-ups, one more than in the 2017/18 and 2019/20 seasons.
This season is now the campaign in which Real Madrid has played the highest number games. Following the second playoff semi-final match-up against Valencia Basket, Pablo Laso's charges have played 84 times this season, surprassing the 83 matches in the 2017/18 and 2019/20 campaigns. This record-breaking tally has been posted by a team that boasts a win rate of over 75%.

In the demanding season that Real Madrid has faced, with injuries and COVID-19, this team will have played more games than any other Madrid side. Despite all of the obstacles, the Whites are performing to a high standard and have displayed an ability to outdo itself and a true competitive spirit. The season began back on 12 September with the Super Cup semis. In the ensuing near nine-month period, the team has racked up 63 wins (64 if it wins tonight), has lifted the Super Cup, reached the Copa del Rey final and forced a fifth match in the EuroLeague playoff against Anadolu Efes. In the league, the team recorded a record-breaking Regular Season with 34 wins in 36 games and was unbeaten on the road, an unprecedented feat in the ACB under its current guise, and is now in the final, if we win.

Fifth season featuring over 80 games
Real Madrid is well used to the massive demands of the calendar. It is the fifth season in which the team has equalled or exceeded the 80-match mark and the third year in which the team has played at least 83 games. The average in the 2020/21 season has been a game every three days. However, the season isn't over just yet and the team is in a position to continue adding to this record.
