NEWS | 26/05/2021

It's the second time the Real Madrid center has claimed this individual honour.
Walter Tavares continues to add to his personal honours list. The Real Madrid center has been included in the Endesa League Best Five 2020/21 following a superb campaign. The key man for Laso's team in a record-breaking Regular Season, he averaged 11 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and a PIR of 19.1 across 30 games played. This latest accolade comes after he was recently chosen as the competition's best defender. The remaining members of the best five are Huertas (Iberostar Tenerife), Henry (Baskonia), López-Arostegui (Joventut) and Shermadini (Iberostar Tenerife).

This is the second time the Cape Verde-born star is included in the line-up, following his presence in the 2018/19 campaign. This term, he's taken his game to new heights, posting his best ever numbers in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and PIR since his arrival at Real Madrid halfway through 2017/18. He was named player of the month in February and leads the Regular Season in blocks (2.3), plus/minus (12.1) and offensive rebounds (3.2), to sit as the tournament's third best-ranked player (19.1).

He's been named the best defender in the League and the Euroleague this season as well as being in both best fives.

Tavares has been one of the key pieces in a Real Madrid team that has made Regular Season history in the league with a record of 34 wins in 36 games. Against Hereda San Pablo Burgos, he hit his highest ever points total at 27, posting twenty or above for PIR in 15 games and putting down 9 double-doubles.

Europe's dominant center
His four individual honours this campaign to date, both in the League and Euroleague, place him at the top of the continent. Tavares has been named the best defender and has made the best five in both competitions this term.
