Online training for the football and basketball schools in Manique

The Sportbosco socio-sporting school caters for over 80 children in partnership with Misiones Salesianas.
The coaches at the Foundation's school in Manique (Portugal) received their first online training session on football, basketball and values as the Sportbosco socio-sporting school, which has been run in conjunction with the Misiones Salesianas since 2012, as they continue to cater for over 80 children aged between 10 and 17.

The training session, which was aimed at the school's coaching staff, allowed both the new coaches and those who have been working at the centre for several seasons to enhance their knowledge of the Foundation's Por una Educación Real: Valores y deporte methodology. The participants were able to share experiences that will improve the planning of the training sessions and allow for the positive values of sporting activity to be incorporated into activities in a more fun and educational manner.
The majority of the socio-sporting school's students hail from disadvantaged neighbourhoods and the project offers the support that many of the families are unable to provide. The daily activities include football and basketball training sessions, academic support classes, a snack, psychological support, a holiday camp, transport to and from the centre and access to additional fun activities.

The project is currently running online activities during periods when there are no classes and it continues to play a key role in terms of supporting the learning to ensure that, despite the period of confinement, the pupils are able to keep on learn and that their needs continue to be catered for.
