"We managed to find our moment in the game in the second half", commented Alocén after the game.
Pablo Laso and Carlos Alocén offered their thoughts in the wake of Real Madrid’s win over UCAM Murcia in the rearranged league Round 19 match-up. The coach reflected on the contest in the following terms: “I'm really pleased with the win. Our game plan was perfect. We knew we were risking a great deal in the first half by changing the defense and we made mistakes which also spurred us into life defensively and offensively. The first half was important for us, particularly offensively. We moved the ball around well and despite the fact that we were behind, it was key to us improving our defensive energy levels in the second half and establishing the lead that we held on to until the end of the game against a team that has some very good point-scorers and who kept themselves in the match throughout”.

“They scored 10 points from offensive rebounds in the first half. To get up to speed with the tempo of the game, we had to control the rebounds and that's exactly what we did in the second half. The work we did in the second half was really good and I'm really pleased with how the team reacted to the situation”.

“When you play few games you say to yourself that the team is lacking tempo and when you play lots of games that the team is tired. I'm not worried about one thing or the other, what I'm bothered about is how my players are feeling after having played so many games. We were carrying several knocks and had several injured players and despite that, everyone who takes to the court is able to give their all in terms of energy. In that regard, I have to praise all of them, especially considering that it's a tough situation and I think they're doing a great job”.
Copa del Rey
“I've stopped thinking about things in terms of weeks. Our duty is to think day to day today and to keep ourselves on track which, with this schedule, is tough. The Copa del Rey still seems some way off because we’ve got the Baskonia game on Friday and Estudiantes on Sunday”.
Alocén: “The third quarter was key”
“They made a very strong start and were performing very well and did so well offensively. We kept our cool and managed to find our moment in the game in the second half. The third quarter was key and that's where we established our lead. They kept on pushing us, but we managed to get the win and are happy”.
