Real Madrid fell short of kicking off the second round of the league with three points. David Aznar's team lost to Barcelona on matchday 18 at the Estadio Johan Cruyff. The game's first chance came on 11’, when Misa saved a Patri header. Three minutes later, the madridista goalkeeper was helpless to avoid the opener, when Alexia unleashed a powerful drive from the edge of the box.

The game became an uphill battle for Madrid when Jenni Hermoso pounced on a Misa parry from Oshoala's shot to net the second. David Aznar's side continued to press forward in an attempt to cut the deficit and Kenti tested Paños with 27’ on the clock. But the hosts still looked dangerous and Oshoala did increase their lead before half-time after being played in by Graham.

Following the break, the madridistas did their best to take the initiative and created decent chances for Jakobsson and Cardona. However, it was Oshoala who struck the 4th on 70’ after Ivana didn't manage to clear. Two minutes later, Misa was handed a red card when she handled outside the box. Madrid refused to give in, netting to make it 4-1 with 81 minutes gone. Olga converted a spot-kick, awarded for a Mapi León foul on Jakobsson, which saw the azulgrana player pick up a second yellow card. Following the Clásico, Real Madrid now host Valencia in their next league clash (Saturday, 1:00pm CET).
