UPS renews collaboration agreement with the Real Madrid Foundation for fifth consecutive season

NEWS | 26/01/2021

The alliance supports the wheelchair basketball schools for young people with disabilities.
The auditorium at Real Madrid City played host to a ceremony to mark the renewal of the collaboration agreement between UPS and the Real Madrid Foundation for a fifth consecutive season. The event, led by the Foundation's executive vice-president Enrique Sánchez, was attended by Elisabeth Rodríguez, Director General of UPS for Spain and Portugal, and Real Madrid ambassador Álvaro Arbeloa.

The alliance between the two organisations was first signed in 2016 and its goal is to ensure the sustainability of the wheelchair basketball social sports schools run by the Real Madrid Foundation in San Sebastián de los Reyes, Getafe and Madrid for children with physical and mental disabilities who would otherwise be unable to enjoy team sports.

The collaboration with UPS covers the participation of its corporate volunteer scheme in the running of social sports projects.

Álvaro Arbeloa thanked UPS for their support and paid particular attention to, “the support of their corporate volunteers, who after so many years are now an essential part of the project, setting up wheelchairs and helping to deliver kit. More than a sponsor, they're an ally”.

Elisabeth Rodríguez: "UPS moves the world"
"At UPS, we move the world to deliver what's important. With the deliveries we provide for the Real Madrid Foundation, even outside Spain, we know we're helping to build a better future and we have faith that together, we can keep working to improve the lives of the children who enjoy sports at the Foundation's schools as well as their families".

Collaboration agreement
UPS' collaboration covers the shipping of Foundation parcels throughout the world, as well as the participation of the company's corporate volunteer scheme in running the social sports projects, particularly in the aforementioned schools.
