"The team feels confident and I do too," said the Croat.
Luka Modrić spoke in the press room at La Rosaleda the day before the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup and he gave his view on the clash against Athletic Club (Thursday, 9:00 pm CET): "We're doing well and we've been in Malaga preparing for tomorrow's match. The team feels confident, I do too and we're well up for the game against Athletic. It's a big game for us. We've prepared well for it and we're feeling good".
"The manager has opted to play certain players, but everyone is important and when each member of the squad plays they do a good job. The manager, as he has always done, is going to give everyone an opportunity and the players have to respond. I'm sure he will rotate the team when he thinks it's the best moment".
His contract renewal
"My situation at Real Madrid is that I'm talking to the club and everything is going well. I'm pleased with the way it's gone and I can't say any more".
His fitness
"I haven't changed anything in particular. I work a lot away from training at the club.  I have the same desire to play and compete as my teammates and still have a lot to prove. Age is not a problem. You can't think about age, but what you do on the pitch. I can continue at this level for a few more years".

“He hasn't played continuously because he's been unlucky with injuries. For this reason he hasn't been at his best. We all know what he did for Chelsea and also for Madrid when he's been fit. He's a great player and he's going to demonstrate that. He needs continuity and to not get injured. Real Madrid signed him to win trophies and he has the quality to do that.”
“As I said before, the rotations are the manager's decision. What we have to do is give it everything when it's our turn. We have to be at our best. It's his decision and that's all there is to it”.

We're going to give it everything to reach the final and win another trophy.

“I don't think there is a favourite. All four teams have the chance to win this tournament. We're going to give it everything to reach the final and win another trophy, but for that to happen we have to win tomorrow”.
Advice to Ødegaard
“I think he's a great player and a great person. The advice I would give him would be to keep working hard and keep fighting for his place in the team. When it's his turn to play he has to play well and stand out to show he deserves to be here. That's all I can say. He has to do his best and help the team.”
On Realmadrid TV
"It's a great way to start the year with a challenge like this. It would be ideal to start it with a trophy, like we did last year. I hope we play well against Athletic and we reach another final".
The opposition
"In the league match one month ago, we saw that they are a team that make it difficult for you and they have good players. Now they also have a good manager and that gives them an extra push and desire to play tomorrow's game because they also have the opportunity to reach a final and they will give it everything".
His memories of the Spanish Super Cup
"This competition is very special to me. It was my first trophy for Real Madrid and my debut. It brings back great memories. I've won it three times and I hope to win it again".
