Carvajal: “The team really had to work for it and our hard work got us the three points”

"We've got some very important matches coming up where we have to keep looking to pick up the three points and close the gap with the side at the top," the defender added.
Real Madrid secured the spoils against Éibar at Ipurua and Dani Carvajal gave his view on the match: “We know that Éibar is a side that is hard to beat. They press high up and that had an impact on the game. They made it difficult for us to play out from the back and that was down to them. We got off to a great start and we put ourselves in a good position, but in the second half we really had to work for it”.

“We wanted to put the game to bed but that didn’t happen until Lucas scored, but the team dealt with it well and stayed strong in defence.  This helped us get all three points. We found it hard to find space and that made it tough for us. ModricKroos and Benzema are very important players for us and when they are on form they really make a difference”.

Fifth win on the bounce
"It's very important for us. Winning games like this one puts you up at the top of the league. The team was playing like this last season after the lockdown, defensively strong and churning out the wins. We've got some very important matches coming up where we have to keep looking to pick up the three points and close the gap with the side at the top".

Ball striking Ramos' elbow
"I haven't seen it, but we're honestly not sure about. Sometimes they give them and then others they don't. For example, they awarded a penalty against Nacho when we played Alavés, the other day they didn't give one against Capa when his hand wasn't resting on the ground and it was a pass by Vinicius Jr. We don't really know what this criterion is based on either and it should be cleared up because we as players are in doubt".
