The Foundation's social sports schools get underway in Spain

NEWS | 06/10/2020

They will have 80% capacity with the necessary health and safety measures in place according to the authorities' recommendations in each territory.
The Real Madrid Foundation's extra-curricular social sports activities get underway in Spain for yet another season. This Monday was the first day back for the social sports schools in footballbasketball and values, and the remaining projects will begin to join in over the course of October. They will start at 80% capacity, with all the necessary health and safety measures in place according to the authorities' recommendations in each territory.

The first back include 35 social sports football schools and 8 basketball schools. The next to open up will be seven football and basketball-based inclusive schools for young people with ASD, Down's Syndrome or other developmental issues; 3 wheelchair basketball schools and 2 adapted football schools. Activities are also getting back underway at certain healthcare centres, including the Fundación Íñigo Álvarez in Toledo and the Hospital San Rafael. These host two weekly sessions of footbll and basketball, centred around an education in values. For the first time this year, should people be unable to attend in person, they will be able to enjoy the sessions online, to ensure nobody misses out on practising sport in a safe manner.

Healthcare protocol training
The professional Real Madrid Foundation coaches have been trained specifically in the educational methodology, For a REAL education - Values and sport, in line with the following manuals: Coaching football, teaching values, An introduction to Valueball and Inclusive Football and Valueball. They have also all been trained in healthcare protocols in order to avoid infections, and they will have significant support from the healthcare sector throughout the season. While some of these mixed schools for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 17 are already full, there are still places and registration remains open and can be completed online at this webpage.

Scholarships and price reductions
This year sees the opening of two new football social sports schools, one in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) in conjunction with MOMO Sports Club La Dehesa, and another in Cazalegas-Talavera de la Reina, alongside Ebora Formación. Thanks to the support of our collaborators, both individuals and organisations, many beneficiaries and collectives have the chance to apply for scholarships and part-scholarships for these activities. What's more, the children of season-ticket holders, Madridista card holders and Foundation collaborators will enjoy reduced-price registration, in order to help all young people enjoy high-quality sporting practice without limits or differences.
