The Uruguayan made 44 appearances this term and opened his account for the club.
Federico Valverde was one of Zinedine Zidane's most-used players in his second season at Real Madrid. The midfielder played a central role in the 
team's two trophy triumphs and finished the campaign in fourth place in the appearance stakes, level with Sergio Ramos, after featuring 44 times. The only players ahead of the Uruguayan in this ranking are Karim Benzema (48), Casemiro (46) and Toni Kroos (45).

Valverde really shone in the Spanish Super Cup, in which he made the starting line-up in both games and scooped the Man-of-the-Match award in the final. Meanwhile, in LaLiga he struck his first two goals in Madrid colours, in the trip to Éibar and in the Bernabéu clash against Real Sociedad. He also provided five assists and after 18 January, when the team slipped to defeat against Sevilla, he was an ever-present in all of Real Madrid's outings across LaLiga, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.
