A Herreros triple topped off an incredible comeback against Baskonia in Game 5 of the final (69-70).
On this day 15 years ago, Real Madrid lifted their 29th basketball league trophy. It's a title that will live long in the memories of all madridismo given the way in which it was won. On the 26th of June 2005, our team got the better of Baskonia in Vitoria in Game 5 of the final, to take the series 3-2 thanks to a historic comeback, finished off by Herreros with a sublime triple to edge it, 69-70.

Just all looked lost at 69-61 with 50 seconds to go, Real Madrid produced a miracle spell. Gelabale sunk a three-pointer (69-64), Scola missed on the following attack by the Vitorian side, and Hamilton made it 69-66. The hosts lost the ball from a baseline throw-in with 17 seconds on the clock, before fouling Sonko, who missed his first free-throw, but sunk the second (69-67). With just 14 seconds left, Baskonia lost possession once again from the baseline throw-in and Real Madrid had the ball. Hamilton drove to the basket and set up Herreros, who made no mistake with a legendary triple from the corner to make it 69-70 just 6 seconds before the end. Baskonia missed their final offense, meaning our team had completed one of the finest comebacks in league history.
