Real Madrid clinched the crown after downing C. B. Manresa on 5 May 1973.
Forty-seven years have passed since the Real Madrid basketball team captured its 15th league crown. Pedro Ferrándiz's charges were crowned champions in Round 27 after downing C. B. Manresa in a 62-96 win. The standout performers in that match-up were Emiliano, who posted 24 points and Luyk (19). This title success represented the sixth in a sequence of 10 straight crowns, which is the best such run in the competition's history.

Real Madrid dominated in the 1972/73 season and prevailed in all 30 matches to collect 60 points, which was eight more than second-placed Joventut. The team's superiority is reflected by the fact that the title was secured in Round 27. That particular roster, which was simply too hot to handle, also tasted Spanish Cup glory and featured a series of legends, including Emiliano, Luyk, Brabender, Cabrera, Corbalán and Rullán, amongst others.
