NEWS | 28/04/2020"I'm very proud, but I couldn't be part of this team without the help of all my teammates and the coaching staff", he explained.
Llull was happy with the recognition: "It is a great honor to be in the team of the decade with great players who have been legends in their clubs and who have marked an era. Personally, I am very happy and very proud of the work done, but I couldn't be here representing Real Madrid without the help of my team-mates and the coaching staff.
"Winning in Madrid was a tremendous achievement for all of us. To be able to do it here and in front of our fans and celebrate it in that way was incredible. You always work hard to win titles like the one in 2015 and it was a great feeling.
"The 2018 title was very special. I came back from a long knee injury, from missing most of the year but I was able to make it to the playoffs and the Final Four in Belgrade. It was a tough year for me and that's why it was special. I worked hard to get in good shape at that moment and try to help the team win and in the end we did it.”.
"You never expect to be able to win two Euroleagues, be in so many Final Fours and keep the team so high for so many years. It's something very beautiful and special what we've achieved with Real Madrid this decade. The responsibility of wearing this jersey makes us hungry to win all the time. When you are recognized for that work with the MVP of the Euroleague it is a very big honor. There are not many players who can boast of winning it but we work to try and win titles as a team and the individuals remain in the background".
"Thanks to the work of my teammates, the coaching staff and all those who work around us, we have returned Real Madrid to where it belongs, which is at the top and fighting for every title. We have to be proud of the work we've done during all these years".
Llull is one of the great icons of Pablo Laso's Real Madrid that is defining an era. In his 13 seasons in the Euroleague, the guard has won the championship twice (2015 and 2018), has been elected MVP in the competition (2016-17), member of the best quintet (2016-17) and the second best (2010-11). In addition, he holds the historical record for most assists in a Final Four semi-final (9).
