On 23 April 1970, they beat Joventut to lift the 12th Cup, and a year later they were back in the title hunt against the same opponents.
April 23rd is a date in which Real Madrid basketball has won two Spanish Cups throughout its history. The first was won 50 years ago in Leon against Joventut (102-90). Luyk and Cabrera were the stand out players for the madridista with more than 20 points each. After an even first half (47-40), the team coached by the legendary Pedro Ferrándiz knew how to keep hold of their advantage and regained the Cup title three years after their last conquest.

The thirteenth Basketball Cup
The following year, Real Madrid won the Cup again after beating Joventut. This final was played in Vitoria and Luyk (18 points) and Brabender (16) led the Whites in another victory, this time by 72-63. With these two titles won on 23 April, the Whites began a period of dominance in the Cup by winning it six consecutive times between 1970 and 1975.
