The Whites sealed glory after claiming a 2-1 away win over Zaragoza.
Today marks the 63rd anniversary o Real Madrid's fifth LaLiga crown. On 14 April 1957, the Whites mathematically clinched the title after beating Zaragoza 2-1 at the Campo de Torrero on the penultimate matchday of the season. The madridistas were forced to come from behind after Wilson's ninth-minute strike put the Aragonese outfit ahead. An Enrique Mateos brace, featuring goals on 35' and 70', was enough to see Madrid take the title.

Real Madrid ended that LaLiga campaign, the 1956/57 season, five points ahead of Sevilla and Barcelona, who finished in second and third respectively. In the individual stakes, Alfredo Di Stéfano (31 goals) was the division's leading marksman. That madridista side was managed by José Villalonga, who led the team to three pieces of silverware in that season, after the Whites also triumphed in the European Cup and the Latin Cup.
