The tournament, set to be played in 2021, will be delayed by a year to accommodate the new dates for the Olympic Games.
FIBA has announced that the men's EuroBasket competition will now be played between the 1st and the 18th of September 2022. The tournament, to be hosted by the Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy and Germany, was due to be held in 2021, but has now been pushed back by a year to make way for the new Tokyo Olympic Games schedule. The decision was made by the FIBA Executive Committee in a video conference to discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the calendar.

As for the four pre-Olympic tournaments set to take place in June in Serbia, Lithuania, Croatia and Canada, FIBA has decided they will now be held between the 22nd of June and 4th of July 2021, pending confirmation by the IOC.
