NEWS | 14/02/2020Yolanda Erburu and Butragueño endorsed the new deal at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The Sanitas Foundation work includes organizing inclusive and tailor made campuses to inclusive socio-sports schools that happen over the course of the season, including the event that took place during Real Madrid’s game against Granada, on Inclusive Sports Week. Over five hundred people with varied abilities have already benefitted from the experience of inclusive basketball, both in a wheelchair and on foot.
Activities at Real Madrid
The 12th Inclusive Basketball Campus comes to Real Madrid City, in Valdebebas for the first time, starting June 20th and running until the 24th, where boys and girls will enjoy sport for all. From July 5th to 11th, the Amanecer Sports and Residence Complex will help those with cognitive functional diversity in the 6th Adapted Basketball Campus, which is an extension of what the Foundation has already put in place in terms of adapted socio-sporting basketball schools in the school holidays in order to foster good use of leisure time.
The deal also involves the socio-sporting schools for inclusive football run by the Real Madrid Foundation along with Down Madrid, Fundación A La Par and Atades, and with the support of the Fundación Sanitas who develop such projects. The director general of the Fundación Sanitas claimed “inclusive sport is a fundamental way of bolstering inclusion through the playing of sports themselves. It is also a key tool for children with disabilities to benefit from sport, from socialising to the positive impact it has on people's health and quality of life”.
Collaboration between entities
Under the moniker of the Alliance for Inclusive Sport, created by the Fundación Sanitas, all the activities focussed on cognitive and functional diversity developed by the Real Madrid Foundation have the support of the Fundación Sanitas. Emilio Butragueño said “Over the years the Fundación Sanitas has continued its firm and dedicated support for inclusive sport and those who struggle to access it”.
