"I'm pleased with the number of wins but, above all, am happy with the work from the whole team", explained the coach.
The win over Khimki was an extra special one for Pablo Laso. The triumph saw the Real Madrid coach reach the impressive tally of 500 victories for the Whites in this, the start of his ninth season in charge. This figure takes him to second spot in the standings for the Madrid coach with the most wins to their name, second only behind Lolo Sainz (595).
Laso's name is etched into the Real Madrid basketball history books. His appointment as Whites' coach in the 2011/12 season heralded the start of one of the team's most successful periods. Under his watch, the team has won 18 pieces of silverware: two EuroLeagues, an Intercontinental Cup, five league titles and Copas del Rey apiece and a further five Super Cups. The team's five-trophy haul in the 2014/15 season is worthy of special mention. His honours also include being twice named the EuroLeague Coach of the Year (2015 and 2018), whilst he has been recognised as the AEEB (Association of Spanish Basketball Coaches) Coach of the Year on five occasions (2013, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019).
By competition
Laso has overseen wins in 500 of his 646 matches in charge, giving him a 77.3% win rate. His triumphs can be broken down as follows: 176 in the EuroLeague, 294 in the league, 19 in the Copa del Rey, 10 in the Super Cup and one in the Intercontinental Cup. In the club's rankings, coming in behind Lolo Sainz's 595 wins and Laso's 500 victories is Pedro Ferrándiz on 414 triumphs.

"I'll never tire of winning and I'm now just focusing on the game against CSKA".

The coach reflected on the game in the media room at the WiZink Center: "They were a very dangerous team and we kept up the defensive intensity from the first minute. The team performed really well. We were really solid and I'm really pleased with the performance".

All-round performance
"You can always improve. There's no such thing as perfection in basketball. What I do believe is that we did very well in defense, which allowed us to control things throughout. In offense we also did really well".

First half
"We made a really good start in all departments and we realised how we had to win the game with good defensive work. They're a team with a lot of scoring ability and we won the game from back to front. We established a big lead because we managed to stop them in defense. I go away feeling really happy".
"We think he's got a broke nose and they're doing tests on him".
