"It'll be tough because they're a team that's playing really well", explained the coach.
Real Madrid faces a road trip to Bilbao Basket in Matchweek 9 of the league season (Sunday, 6:30pm CET) and ahead of the game, the Whites' coach, Pablo Laso had the following to say: "We know just how tough it'll be because Bilbao Basket has been playing really well now at the start of the season and also because after the EuroLeague games and all of the excitement involved and the short recovery time, historically we've struggled in these games. The team trained well but we know that we'll face a really tough match".

"We've been hit by a number of situations at the same time. Randolph has a knee problem after he took a knock on Thursday, we're going to have to take him out and he won't travel; Causeur has fever, plus the absences of the players you already know about: Reyes and Mejri. We've brought Thompkins in for Deck, who'll also be rested".

Room for improvement
"We have to try and remain solid and improve. Obviously it's a nuisance when you get hit by issues like those affecting Randolph and Causeur but we welcome Thompkins. back. We've improved in many areas since the start of the season but there's still a lot of room for improvement. Tomorrow we have another chance to try and take some steps forward".

The opposition
"Bilbao Basket is a different and revamped team since the last time we faced them, in 2017. They've had a big overhaul but Bilbao has always been a city with a strong commitment to its basketball, we saw that with their promotion last season. They've made a very good start to the season and could have won another two games that they lost in overtime. They're very solid and have a clear target in this, their return to the ACB. They're a very dangerous team and have talented players in several positions. They've got good foundations and have to improve over time".
