2-1: Varane scores to send France to the Euros

The madridista defender opened the scoring for his national team in the win over Moldova.
Varane had a crucial role to play as France beat Moldova (2-1). The Whites' centre-back played the full 90 minutes, and netted the opening goal of the game for his team at the Stade de France. Deschamps' team, who were already guaranteed a place at the Euros following the draw between Turkey and Iceland, celebrated their qualification with the home fans.

Moldova went in front early on, thanks to a Rata strike just 9 minutes' in. The hosts were able to turn the scores around though, after Varane levelled with a header on 35’ and Giroud converted a penalty to make it 2-1. Areola, who is also in the French squad, did not feature in the game.
