NEWS | 11/11/2019 | Nacho Díaz | PHOTOGRAPHER: Antonio Villalba"Since the beginning of this marvellous adventure, over 11,500 students have graduated with us", commented Butragueño in the opening ceremony, which took place at the Bernabéu.
The school's 14th cohort features students of over 50 nationalities, who are studying 18 Master's related to sport and Real Madrid's daily activities. In his welcome address, Butragueño commented: "Since the beginning of this marvellous adventure, over 11,500 students have graduated with us, which shows that the effort has been worth it. We're very proud of the school's success and of our academic project. One of the main objectives when the school was opened was for it to have an international feel and a clear example of this is the fact that 73% of this cohort comes from over 50 countries".
"I want to underline Real Madrid's firm commitment to the school and this is demonstrated by the fact that each master's programme has a leading member of the club's hierarchy as its co-director".
"In addition, over 70 of the club's professionals are part of the school's teaching staff. They will offer you a real insight into how Real Madrid works. This involvement is also to be seen in the club's work experience programme. We've seen over the years that it's been a big success. Indeed 50 former students are now part of Real Madrid's professional staff. It's a big honour to be welcoming you".
Elena Gazapo: "It's the most ambitious project for sports-related professionals"
"The values shared by two leading institutions in Real Madrid and the
Universidad Europea have led us to establish a university project that's the most ambitious in our country for those seeking to work in sport-related professions. I want to underline the significance of our academic model: it's unique, innovative and focused on learning applied to the various disciplines and it's one where our students learn in real-life situations. You're going to be able to enjoy a real experience linked to a business model that's a role model in the form of Real Madrid's, a club at which success, but effort too, are closely related to the club's crest".
The ceremony closed with a conversation between Whites' legends, Butragueño and Solari, in front of the school's new students, who were offered the chance to ask the pair questions. The proceedings came to a close with a group photo.
