Valverde: “It's the goal I've been looking for in recent games”

"We have to keep going like this and look to improve”, said Courtois.
Real Madrid got the better of Éibar in a game which saw Valverde open his goal-scoring account as a Whites' player. The Uruguayan explained how he felt following the final whistle: “I can honestly say today is one of the happiest days of my life. It was the goal I've been looking for in recent games because I wanted it to be a bit special. Modric laid on a wonderful assist for me, but the important thing is the win to head off on the international break happy”.

“When I scored I thought of the people I have around me, the ones fighting by my side. My family, my girlfriend, the ones who are with me through the good and the bad. The goal was for them. Modric said something funny, but I can't repeat it here. He was kidding around and said it'd finally gone in. I thank him for the pass and I'd like to thank the team for the confidence and security they give me”.

Five matches without conceding
“It's a team effort, everyone's showing the commitment and we have to say congratulations to Courtois, because it all comes down to him. We always try and run for that extra ball to do our bit and make sure they can't score”.

“We knew it'd be a tough game, the opposition pressed high and looked for knock-downs. We imposed our game on them and that's what we've been able to do in recent games. When you score, everything changes, we made the most of that and they just kept coming”.

Courtois: “We have to keep going like this”
“I don't think we've played as badly as people have been saying at times. We played well against Betis, we just couldn't score. We're playing well and today it was important to know when to look in behind and when to come short. They pressured us a lot, but we carried out exactly what the coach wanted from us”.

Valverde: “When I scored I thought of the people I have around me, the ones fighting by my side".

Real Madrid are always trying to stay in the hunt for a title, we want to keep going from strength to strength. It was important to win before the international break. It is a shame that it's come now as we’re in fine form, but it’s time to play for our countries".

Good run of clean sheets
“I never doubted myself, but people see it differently when you do concede. I have always felt that way. I keep working hard to help the team and improve my game".

Hazard
“He had a great game. In terms of statistics he hasn’t had a goal or assist, sometimes those aren’t the only things we need. Today we scored four and won, I’m sure he wanted to get a goal but I know they’ll come soon”.

Valverde’s game
“I get on well with Fede , he is a great player. I am sure he’ll be here 15 years. He provides for the team both in attack and defence, he fights a lot and has a great shot. He got his first goal today and in training he has one of the fiercest shots. Hopefully he can keep chipping in with goals from deep because it will give us a boost”.
