Laso: “It was a tough victory to get”

“The team knows how to find Carroll and he has always had an attacking instinct”, explained the coach.
Pablo Laso spoke about the win Real Madrid got against Maccabi in Euroleague game day 2: “It was a tough victory to get. Without playing well, we showed signs of dominating the play in the first quarter. The start third quarter was bad. We lost possession a lot and that helped them turn the tables. They played so well but we endured, even when things got bad. Rain or shine they have great players. Wilbekin thought he had the winner and Carroll really did get the winner. We won a game that was closely fought, and the score showed that.”

“The team knows how to find Carroll and he has always had an attacking instinct, he still has it. If you watch him in training, he looks like he has never stops. He came back to the fold in very good physical shape. He made shots that have opened the defense. I'm so happy for him. He won it for us but it was down to all those players who dug deep out there to get the win.”

Mickey
“He is a five who can play number four. I'm not too concerned about Mejri coming into this side, I'm more interested in how the team plays as a unit. In a calendar as tough as this one we need to be ready for everyone play throughout the season. I am thrilled with Mickey's game, it was his best game for Real Madrid so far. He had already done so well, but he has shown class. You have to make the most of your talant to play under the basket and from out far. He is a player who has great hands.”

Laprovittola
“He was fit to play but didn’t play in the end. Llull was a guard today. It will be a long season and I am not too concerned yet. I feel calm because I see him gelling with the rest of the team. He did not play today, but other players didn’t feature either.”

Euroleague results
“There such challenging competition in each game. They are all top teams with real talent and the competition makes you focus hard. The year we were European champions we lost against Crvena Zvezda, and they did not make the playoffs. This is how the Euroleague often goes.”
