The Whites are the competition's most decorated club and the side to have contested the most editions.
This Wednesday sees Real Madrid open their participation in the European Cup as they take on Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes (9pm CET). This year's is a particularly special edition of the tournament given that it represents a 50th participation for the madridistas, who have lifted the trophy 13 times since the competition's inception back in 1955.

No other team has qualified for the European Cup as many times as Real Madrid. The club's nearest pursuers in these stakes are Benfica, who are set to contest the tournament for a 39th time. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich, Ajax and Dynamo Kiev have taken part three times fewer than the Portuguese outfit, whilst Anderlecht, Juventus, Celtic and Porto have been involved 34 times, with Olympiacos's 32 campaigns placing them in 10th spot in the list of editions contested.
