Causeur: “We need the same energy and drive”

NEWS | 16/06/2019

“We need to make the most of home court advantage and take a 2-0 lead on the road”, added the French star.
Fabien Causeur spoke prior to game two in the Endesa League finals at the WiZink Center on Monday (9:00pm CEST). The forward admitted: "I am not sure whether we need to do something different to win game two, but we must go in with the same energy and drive. Game two is tough and we already saw that against Valencia. After an easy opener, it got tough. We know Barcelona is a great team, they will react and try to hit us hard.

"In the first half, they got 11 offensive rebounds, it's something we need to focus on. We defend very well, but giving them some second chances makes it more difficult. It's not just the big guys, everybody needs to step up for the rebound, because they are physical guys and they get the offensive rebound because of their energy."

No rest
"It is hard to disconnect and flip the switch in 48 hours. When I went to bed I closed my eyes and could not think of anything else but the game. That is normal for us, it is also good luck to celebrate your birthday in a final," he claimed.

Big difference
"The score did not reflect the game itself. We were more successful than Barça but we knew that if we eased up and lost two or three balls they would be back in it again. We think back to the Copa del Rey and remember just how quickly they can get back into the game, they go on good runs like that and we have to focus for forty minutes. I do not think we'll win again by twenty points next time out."

Here’s to the second
"We need to make the most of home court advantage and take a 2-0 lead on the road. They came to Madrid to get a point, and they will not be focussed on what happened in game one, they are already looking to the next game. Barcelona is a tough team to face and they showed us that in the Copa when they sank four threes in a minute. That's how basketball goes, but in that first game we knew how to hold our own when it mattered.
