Tavares, voted the best defender in the Euroleague

The Whites' center leads the list of blockers in the European competition.
Walter Tavares has been voted the best defender in the Euroleague, in a vote in which the coaches of the European competition took part. His blocks and rebounds have been a key element for Real Madrid on the road to the Final Four.
During this season, the Cape Verdean has led the Euroleague blocks table. His 53 total blocks and the 1.7 average per game are the highest among all the players in the competition.
In addition, the Whites' center has recorded 6.2 rebounds per duel (4 of them defensive), leading Pablo Laso's team to achieve the second highest defensive rebound average in the history of the Euroleague, with 27 blocks per game. Along with this recognition for the best defender, Tavares was already awarded the MVP for the month of October.
The Madrid forward, who beat Kalinic (Fenerbahçe), Vesely (Fenerbahçe) and Dunston (Anadolu Efes) in the voting, expressed his satisfaction at winning the award: "I've worked hard to get it and I'm very happy to have won it. It's something I’m proud of, I'm in a team with great players and a lot of talent".
