Kroos becomes Club World Cup's most decorated player

The Whites' midfielder is the first player to have lifted the crown on five occasions.
Toni Kroos has now lifted the world club crown on five occasions. The German, who started both games in this year's tournament, is the competition's most decorated player. Indeed, the midfield man has secured the title in five of the last six years. After tasting glory in Abu Dhabi, he moves ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, who has four titles to his name. Madrid's latest triumph saw the following players draw themselves level with the Portuguese: Ramos, Marcelo, Carvajal, Isco, Bale, Benzema, Varane, Keylor Navas, Nacho and Modric.

Kroos's success in the competition began back in 2013, when his Bayern Munich side triumphed over Raja Casablanca in the showpiece. His next four Club World Cup crowns have come during his time at Real Madrid. In 2014, the Whites saw off San Lorenzo in a final in which Kroos played a starring role after he teed up Sergio Ramos for the opening goal.

A guaranteed starter
The German has made the starting line-up in the past three finals. He claimed his third title success in 2016 against Kashima Antlers. In 2017, the Whites got the better of Gremio in the showpiece and this year prevailed over Al Ain. Real Madrid's seventh Club World Cup title is Kroos' fifth triumph in the competition, a record which makes his the undisputed king of the tournament.
