In the 1989/1990 season, the Mexican netted in the thrashing of Rayo Vallecano.
The star of this week's Historic Goals is Hugo Sánchez. The Mexican ace signed for Real Madrid in the 1985/1986 campaign and wasted no time at all in becoming a Whites' idol. A fox in the box, he made his name for being a lethal finisher, winning the Pichichi trophy four times as a madridista, one season smashing 38 goals.

During 89/90, Real Madrid hosted Rayo Vallecano on match day 27 in LaLiga and there were goals galore. This week's standout strike saw Hugo Sánchez turn home a wonderful cross at the back post. The Mexican rose highest to send his header back across goal and net Real Madrid's third of the game as they went on to win it 5-2.
Hugo Sánchez made 282 competitive appearances and scored 208 goals for Real Madrid. He also lifted 10 trophies during his time with the club: 1 UEFA Cup, 5 LaLiga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups.
