"Today we played well, showed that we are Real Madrid we want to be", admitted the forward.
Following his brace against Viktoria Plzen on Champions League match day four, Karim Benzema has passed the 201-goal mark for Real Madrid. The French striker is the seventh player in the club’s history to do so. Cristiano Ronaldo (451), Raúl (323), Di Stéfano (308), Santillana (290), Puska (242) and Hugo Sánchez (208) have all managed this incredible feat.

At the Doosan Arena, Benzema opened the scoring with an extraordinary solo play, jinking past defenders to beat Hruska. Minutes later he scored his third goal, heading in Bale's cross before teeing up the Wales star, who netted the fourth goal before the break.

After the game, he admitted: “Today we played well, showed that we are Real Madrid we want to be. Each year the teams we play get harder and harder. We need to put up with that, fight and play well to create beautiful football and win games. We knew it would be a complicated game and we're so happy, knowing that we continue our winning run without conceding”.

I am proud of those goals, I have scored many and this will push me to score more.

"I play football to rewrite the history books and sometimes people don't understand what I do out on the pitch. I'm there to help my teammates and give my all. I sometimes score and other times I don't. But the important thing is that we win silverware. I'm 30 now and that's always been the case. I'm very proud of my goals, it's a big tally and that gives me the confidence to go on and score more. However, it's not just all about the goals, you've got to be a good footballer to be a good striker. When I take to the pitch I want to score goals, but am also keen to provide assists, defend, attack… do the job that a forward does".

Solari
"Solari was also a Real Madrid player and he knows a lot about the game. The team's fortunes have changed and let's hope that continues. Why wouldn't we back Solari to the hilt? He's doing a good job".
