NEWS | 17/10/2018The company ensures the sustainability of wheelchair basketball schools and collaborates in the logistics of the projects.
The collaboration with UPS, a global leader in logistics, ensures the sustainability of wheelchair basketball socio-sports schools in San Sebastián de los Reyes and Getafe. These are projects that serve minors and young people with physical functional diversity, so they can practice their favourite sport on a regular basis. The students are directed by professionals, while they acquire positive values that promote their self-esteem, their motivation and autonomy.
The support of UPS includes the logistical services required by the Real Madrid Foundation, not only in the transport of wheelchairs for schools and tournaments, but also for the development of the 162 projects and socio-sporting schools that the Foundation is developing in Spain.
Emilio Butragueño explained: "These schools have their origin in the inclusive campuses so that they can play and enjoy the sport, regardless of their ability, their gender, their race...". Fernando Falcón said that "We’re very proud to expand the collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation. We have seen first-hand that the Foundation aims to normalise the practice of sports among people with functional diversity, a goal with which we at UPS are very committed".
The Foundation develops more than 988 educational projects, socio-sporting schools and training activities in more than 100 countries on five continents. For its part, UPS, present in more than 220 countries, assumes a commitment to all the local communities in which it operates. This agreement is part of the efforts of the multinational focused on literacy from an economic and global point of view, environmental sustainability, diversity and community safety.
