NEWS | 04/10/2018The agreement between the two entities will benefit those over the age of 65.
Enrique Sánchez, executive vice-president of the Real Madrid Foundation; Ramón Berra de Unamuno, director general of GenesisCare; Emilio Butragueño, Director of Institutional Relations at Real Madrid; and Ignacio Azinovic, medical director at GenesisCare, have today signed the agreement between the two organisations which is set to benefit those over 65 years of age.
Emilio Butragueño discussed the significance of this support, given that “regular sporting activity and treatment for painful ailments are a great combination in ensuring an old age full of life”. Ramón Berra de Unamuno stressed the company's efforts in promoting active ageing: “Ageing and the benign conditions that come with it must not become an obstacle. Our elderly population must keep moving and enjoying a better quality of life, something which advances in technology are allowing us to achieve”.
Mobility for the elderly
Thanks to new technological advances, the anti-inflammatory and antiproliferative properties of radiotherapy mean it can be used to cure and relieve symptoms of benign conditions such as pain, inflammation and deteriorating mobility.
Low doses of radiotherapy, applied for the treatment of non-oncological conditions, is a safe method with barely any toxic effects. It's a non-painful, non-invasive procedure which does not affect the patient's daily activity and doesn't require sedation or fasting. It is an effective method of joint pain relief in up to 90% of patients and results in complete recovery in many cases. This ensures age is no barrier to remaining active.
