2-1: Modric and Kovacic into the World Cup final with Croatia

Their national side overcame England in extra-time and will fight it out with France for the trophy.
Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic have booked their place in the World Cup final in Russia. Croatia came out on top over England in the semi-finals in a game which saw them come from behind to take the win in extra-time. Modric was in the starting line-up but Kovacic did not feature. The Croatians will now play Varane's France side in the tournament showpiece (Sunday, 5:00pm CEST).
England went ahead very early on. There were barely five minutes on the clock when Trippier stepped up to beat Subasic with a superb free-kick. The early goal set the tone for the first half as Southgate's men could have increased their lead through Harry Kane while Croatia could only try their luck from distance.
The second half started strongly with both teams threatening the opposition goal. With 68 on the clock, Perisic levelled the tie with a strike from inside the area. Three minutes on and Perisic went close once again but his effort came back off the post. Despite both teams looking to win it, the game edged into extra-time. In the 109th minute, Mandzukic got on the end of a Perisic header to turn home and make it 2-1.
