The academic institution, which is a leader in the educational, will support the socio-sporting basketball schools. The Universidad Europea and the Real Madrid Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement which will see the academic institution support the sustainability of the socio-sporting basketball schools run by the foundation across Madrid. The link-up, which will serve to guarantee the provision of high-quality basketball training for over half a thousand boys and girls aged between five and 16, was signed at a ceremony presided over by the foundation's executive vice-president, Enrique Sánchez.
This agreement sees the Universidad Europea, which has been working alongside the foundation for four seasons and this year became the basketball department's official sponsor, further enhance its relationship with all areas of the club: the Real Madrid Foundation's social outreach work, the academic sphere via the Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid and on the sporting side through the club's basketball team.
This latest link-up will enhance the support offered by the university, which to date had involved the sports physiotherapy courses for rare and neurological illness and addressing the needs of those participants in the socio-sporting schools who are at risk from exclusion in the institution's private hospital. In addition, the agreement will also mean that more students enrolled on the university's Sports Science course will be able to access placement opportunities with the Real Madrid Foundation's socio-sporting projects.
Butragueño: "Sport provides a pathway to a better life"
Speaking at the ceremon y, the club's director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueño, commented: "You're part of the Real Madrid family and this link has now been strengthened, with the foundation's collaboration being broadened to include the nine socio-sporting basketball schools throughout Madrid. Sport provides a pathway to a better life".
The president of the Universidad Europea, Conrado Briceño, noted: "This link-up is the result of the commitment and firm belief of both institutions in the need to put all of our efforts into educating the youngest members of our society, through sport and education, to enable them to contribute to social progress".
