Real Madrid run riot with late goals

NEWS | 23/03/2018 | Antonio M. Leal

They've scored 12 goals in the closing minutes in their last 11 games.
Real Madrid have shown their unerring accuracy in front of goal in recent months, particularly in the closing stages of games, as is reflected in their LaLiga numbers of late: in the last 11 games, the Whites have smashed 12 goals later than the 80th minute. The last game against Girona was no exception, with Bale (86’) and Cristiano Ronaldo (91’) rounding off the madridista victory. The Whites also notched doubles at the start of this run against Deportivo (Cristiano, 84’ and Nacho, 88’) and Valencia (Marcelo, 84’ and Kroos, 89’).

The Portuguese ace's fine run of form has seen him once again prove crucial at the decisive moments. He scored late on against Real Sociedad (80’) and Éibar (84’), where his goal was crucial in taking all three points. Others to have found the back of the net late in the day are Isco (Levante, 81’), Benzema (Betis, 92’ and Alavés, 89’) and Ramos (Leganés, 90’).

PSG clash
This last-minute clinical edge also extends to the Champions League. In the knock-out tie with PSG, the madridistas clinched victory at the Bernabéu in the final moments: Cristiano (83’) and Marcelo (86’). In the return leg at the Parque des Princes, Casemiro netted the final goal of the tie in the 80th minute.
