Lucas Vázquez: "It’s a fair result"
"They were very closed in the first half, they made it very difficult for us, they looked to take their chances, we waited for our moment and I think 2-0 is fair. We’d talked about it before and said that if there were penalties, the first would be taken by Asensio and I’d take the second. In the end there were two and we scored both. I take a lot of penalties in training".
Game in Girona
"We’re going in to it naturally, we’re waiting to be told what could or could not happen. We’ll prepare for the game, which is our duty. We try not to think about other things, just about the sporting side".
“Vallejo played a great game on his debut and at the end it was tainted by the red card. These things happen in football, he's not to blame, he doesn't have to apologise to us”.
Nacho: “I couldn't be happier to be captain”
"Happy first of all because of the win, it was more difficult than it looked, and as for being captain for the first time in an official match, I couldn't be happier. At Real Madrid you always have that responsibility, and being a captain you are the leader even more so. I hope to keep playing games and to be captain on many more occasions".
“The important thing is that we scored goals and didn't concede any. It was a tougher game than it may appear because they sat very deep and we struggled with it slightly. The incident with Vallejo was part of the game. Knowing Jesús, I can assure you there was no malice in it at all. He's a great guy”.
Llorente: "We had to be patient"
"It's a big win for us, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy to win here. We’ve managed it, and it sets us up nicely for the second leg. The pitch here is smaller and the team got behind the ball, so it was difficult to break them down. We were patient, moving the ball from side to side, without trying to force chances, and that was very important for us. With that patience we were able to create chances and get those two goals".
“We couldn’t afford to relax, we had to keep a good intensity to the game. I think we’ve done as the coach asked of us and we take a good win back home. Ultimately, Zidane ensures the whole team is switched on and well prepared. Us guys who play less have got to take advantage of these opportunities".
Tejero: “We showed concentration until the end”
“I try and do a good job, and wherever the coach needs me, I’ll be there to help out. We knew it’d be a tough game against an opponent who is playing well. There was a sending off in the closing stages, but we remained focused until the end. The most important thing is to be out on the pitch, enjoy yourself and learn from the best”.
