“We've come through the first of the remaining finals in the race for LaLiga”, added Carvajal."Real Madrid is a great club and with our fans driving us on it's difficult to get the better of us here. The most important thing is that we remain right in the hunt and we'll be fighting until the end. If we want to secure the LaLiga title we're going to have to win all of our remaining games. Our plan is to just take things one game at a time, be patient and work really hard".
Carvajal: “We went for it in the second half”
“We had five finals to go and we've come through the first one. We suffered a bit because it was a difficult game against tough opposition. But we come away with the three points and we're one step closer to the LaLiga title. We're only looking at our run-in and if we get 10 points from a possible 12, we'll be champions, so we'll go all out to get them”.
Difficult game
“We went for the game in the second half. If we'd have scored the penalty it would have made it much easier. It wasn't to be and they levelled things up, but in the final minutes we pushed on to get the win”.
Physical shape
“The team is in good shape, feeling fresh. The coach is making changes and we were able to push physically at the end. The full-backs are important because the coach gives us the freedom to push forward and that means we can contribute more assists”.
Modric: “We won it and LaLiga title destiny is still in our own hands”.
"Tuesday's will be a very tough and hard-fought game and just like our most recent meetings with them, it'll come down to the fine details. It'll be a very tough tie, but let's hope we can make it to Cardiff".
Modric: "It was a tough game but we deserved the win"
"Every game between now and the end of the season will be difficult. Today's was a tough game, what with Valencia getting an equaliser, but we responded well and deserved the win. We didn't sit back and looked to go and get the second and we had chances to have put the game out of sight earlier on. This was a very important win".
Squad rotation
"Those are decisions for the coach to take and whoever plays always delivers. That's positive for the team and it's not an issue for us. The most important thing is that the team wins. We won the game and our destiny is in our own hands".
Nacho: "The team responded excellently"
"The Valencia game was a must-win match, just like all of our remaining LaLiga fixtures are, they're all cup finals. We're very happy to have picked up another three points. The team worked hard throughout the whole game and it's disappointing that they scored off the free-kick, but we responded excellently to regain our lead".
The fans
"We really notice the fans' support. Their backing makes things so much easier and we need them to be there throughout the whole 90 minutes. It's down to us to do a good job on the pitch and they have to really get behind us".
James: "We produced a perfect display"
"Valencia are a good side and they're a big club with a lot of history. They knocked the ball around well and played out from the back quickly. We produced a perfect display and played with real intensity. Our wing-backs really help us out, they give you an escape route and make themselves available for the pass. When I'm picked I'm keen to play well and I think that in recent games, I've performed well".
