Real Madrid - Kashima Antlers

The greatest of world champions

NEWS | 18/12/2016

Real Madrid are the only club with five Intercontinental titles.
Following their win in Japan, Real Madrid are now the team with the most intercontinental titles in history. The Whites have won five titles which include the current Club World Cup and the Intercontinental Cup. They have overtaken Milan, who have four. Behind them on the list are seven teams who have each won three trophies: Peñarol, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Club Nacional de Football (from Montevideo), Sao Paulo, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich.

The 2016 Club World Cup follows the title won in Morocco in 2014 and the 3 Intercontinental Cups from 1960, 1998 and 2002, which makes Real Madrid the only five-time world champion. In the latter of the two competitions, Real Madrid were the first time to win the title, lifting the inaugural trophy after beating Peñarol in a two-legged tie.

23 international titles
These five trophies are part of the legend of Real Madrid, which also includes 18 European trophies: 11 European Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 2 UEFA Cups and 2 Latin Cups.
