"It has been a dream year, really great", stated the forward, who was also Man of the Match in the final.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded with the 2016 Club World Cup Golden Ball. The Portuguese forward, who was also Man of the Match in the final after scoring a hat-trick against Kashima Antlers, joined Luka Modric, who was presented with the Silver Ball, and the Japanese player Shibasaki, who received the Bronze Ball. “It has been a dream year, really great. I didn't think it would end like this: winning the final, scoring three goals and helping Real Madrid”.

“We played well, having to suffer a fair bit, but finals are like that: you have to suffer. This is a trophy we really wanted and we wanted to end the year in the best possible way. Everyone always expects more from Cristiano, I always give my best and if I can't do it it's because I'm unable to".

A great end to the week
"It was a week full of great moments after having won the Ballon d'Or and now the Club World Cup, so it really is a perfect end to the year. I'd like to thank my teammates yet again, because Cristiano cannot win individual trophies without them”.

“We played well, having to suffer a fair bit, but finals are like that".

"It has been an unforgettable year, both for the team and for me as an individual. We won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. I also won the European Championships with Portugal. It was a perfect year. I am very happy to end the year in such a way. All trophies are special, but winning the Euros with Portugal was the first for our nation. The others were also important and I'm really happy".
His performance this year
"The statistics don't lie. I am really happy, I've had a great season on an individual and team level. People often talk too much, but I’m used to that. I show my quality on the pitch and things haven't gone badly at all. I have kept my performance levels as high as possible over the last 10 years. I want to keep working and enjoy my football, which is what I love the most".
