Real Madrid claimed another three points in their LaLiga home game against Leganés. Zidane stated his desire in the build-up for his team not to concede and his players did not disappoint. The Whites kept a clean sheet, scored several goals and now go into the international beak as league leaders. This round of fixtures has also been favourable for the madridistas, who now have a six-point lead over Atlético and Sevilla.

The final minutes of the first half proved decisive and one name stood out above all others, that of Gareth Bale. The Welshman scored twice in eight minutes, between the 38th minute and half-time. For the first goal he took advantage of a sublime pass between the lines from Isco to put the ball past Serantes when through one-on-one. The second goal came in injury time and owed all to Bale's intelligence. Kroos fired in a free-kick which Morata controlled with his chest and Bale, the fastest and most alert player on the pitch, poked home with his left foot.

Modric made his return from injury, coming on in the second half.

The match had tipped in their favour but there were still 45 minutes to go to seal the three points. Real Madrid started the second half with increased solidity and the return of Modric, who came on after 62 minutes to replace his compatriot Kovacic, drew applause from the stands.

Morata seals victory
The minutes ticked by as the Whites had the game under control, although Szymanowski forced Keylor Navas into a fine one-on-one save in the 72nd minute. It was just a blip though as four minutes later Morata got on the scoresheet. A superb Kroos through ball sent the academy graduate through to finish with aplomb. Morata has now notched eight goals in competitive outings to become Real Madrid’s top scorer so far this season. Real Madrid remain top of the league going into the international break.
