The Whites have won 16 consecutive games in the championship.
Real Madrid equaled the record number of consecutive wins in La Liga history after beating Espanyolmaking it 16 wins on the bounce. This sees them equal Barcelona's run from the 2010/11 season and in the next matchweek against Villareal, they could set a new record in the competition. The Whites have won all of their league games since 2nd March, 12 matches from last season and four this term.

The opponents in this run were: Levante, Celta (twice), Las Palmas, Sevilla, Barcelona, Éibar, Getafe, Villarreal, Rayo Vallecano, Real Sociedad (twice), Valencia, Deportivo Osasuna and Espanyol. Seven of these wins came at the Santiago Bernabéu and nine on the road.

Up until now, the best run of league wins for Real Madrid was in the 1960/61 season, when the side managed by Miguel Muñoz recorded 15 consecutive wins. With Zidane on the bench, the Whites equaled that record against Osasuna, before beating it against Espanyol.
