NEWS | 17/07/2016The Whites played a friendly in Vancouver in 1961 and another in Toronto in 2009.
This will be the first time the Whites visit Montreal but their third time in Canada. The reason behind their last visit was two friendly matches, which both ended 1-5.
The first took place at the Empire Stadium in Vancouver on the 26th August 1961. They took part in a 23 day and 40.000 kilometre tour of America which also saw the Whites travel to Chile, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Guatemala and the United States, the reports read as follows: “Six nations, six games and six wins’, the Whites were at the time trained by Miguel Muñoz and beat Toronto City, a side which featured 6 players frim the English First Division.
Puskas, Di Stéfano, Gento and Del Sol all scored twice. “In Vancouver we faced a tough rival, but we played well. It was the most complicated match of the tour along with the one in Santiago de Chile against Colo-Colo”, said the madridista coach.
Pepe, Ronaldo and Benzema played in Canada with Real Madrid
The second and last game played by Real Madrid was on 7th August 2009 in Toronto, the most heavily populated city in the country.
