“We aim to play every game like a final and we did that well today”, said the Brazilian.
Marcelo was chosen as man of the match in the victory over Chelsea. The Brazilian was decisive during his 63 minutes on the pitch, scoring the first two goals of the clash. The first came in the 19th minute after he beat two opponents and struck a right-footed shot, while the second in the 26th minute was a wonderful strike following a one-two with Asensio. The Brazilian rounded off his impressive performance by setting up Mariano for the third goal.

After accepting the award, the Brazilian shared his thoughts with the media: “The team did a great job. It's clear we're at the start of pre-season, it's just the second game for us and the fourth or fifth for Chelsea. We noticed the intensity that we were lacking in the first game. We've improved a lot, but we're just starting and we have to keep going”.

“As soon as you bring intensity into the game, things start to happen, the result goes your way and perceptions change. We aim to play every game like a final and we did that well today even if we did struggle a bit towards the end”.

“I tried to celebrate the goal with everyone, I went over to the bench to those who weren’t playing in order to foster a family feeling. I feel good, But I am not satisfied. You always have to improve. Mariano’s goal was great and I’m happy for him”.
