“Coming back from 2-0 down isn't easy, but my players showed patience", insisted Zidane.
Zinedine Zidane expressed his satisfaction at Real Madrid's win at Vallecas. The coach praised his players' efforts in coming from behind: "A lot of things can happen during a football match. We got off to a poor start, but we finished strongly and I take the positives away with me. It's not easy to come back from being 2-0 down at a tricky place like this and against tough opposition. Initially, it looked as if we were up against it, but the players did a great job and I'm happy".

"It was a hard-fought, difficult game. We struggled in the opening 10-15 minutes, but a football match is played over 90 minutes. At the start of the game, we weren't applying pressure as a team against a side who know how to play, but then we improved from the end of the first half onwards and when we did things properly - which was after they had gone 2-0 up - the game went in our favour".

Gareth Bale
"Like him, I'm very happy because he's making the difference. We needed Bale to step up, and he did so superbly. He's been really good and I'm happy because he hasn't had the minutes and he's in good shape. Now he must rest up and start thinking about Tuesday. We needed him today and he performed really well".

"We could talk about his part in the two goals, but he put in a fantastic all-round  performance. He created chances and physically he gets stronger as the game goes on. He was great".

"It's not easy to win the game when you're 2-0 down. We've proved that we can turn a game around after conceding two goals. My players showed a lot of patience and they made the difference. We've got players with the quality to turn things in your favour when things are going against us from the off".

A tricky ground
"We know that there are no easy games and we were aware that this was a tough place to come. We struggled, but we got over it, particularly after we went 2-0 down. On Tuesday we face another battle against very tough opposition and we'll prepare well for it".

Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema
"Cristiano will travel to Manchester. We're going to assess Benzema. All that I can say is that it's not a knock. We'll get back to Valdebebas and do what we need to do there to assess what the issue is. I hope that it's nothing serious and that he'll be available for Tuesday. Right now I can't tell you any more than that".

"He put in a great performance. Gradually he got himself into the game and he went on to produce an excellent display".
