Zidane: "The team were phenomenal from the first minute to the last"

NEWS | 20/04/2016 | Javier García

“I'm very happy with everyone's attitudes, I'm seeing my team improve every day”, he added.
Satisfied by the eighth win in a row in La Liga, Zinedine Zidane spoke to the press about the match against Villarreal and praised his players: “We keep doing things well, working hard. The team were phenomenal from the first minute to the last. We attacked well, created chances and retrieved a lot of balls. Defensively it was an almost perfect game”.

“I'm very happy with everyone's attitude, with our team and satisfied with our players. It is great to have a squad like this to work with. We will keep playing against tough teams, but if we keep playing as we did tonight we will achieve great things. Obviously in every game we face tough moments, but I'm very satisfied with my team because I see them improving every day”.

The Fight for La Liga
“Nothing has changed, we are one point away from them. We will keep going with our ideas and our football. We will continue with what we have been doing recently, nothing has changed”.

Cristiano Ronaldo
“He felt something at the end there, but at the moment I can't tell you anything. I think he was worried about what happened in case it he picked up something serious. We will see tomorrow calmly what the matter is. I'm more relaxed now than when he left the field. He left the pitch because he was worried. He stayed on for a minute and then wanted to know what happened. In the end it was just a scare and we will see tomorrow exactly what the matter is”.

Defensively we had an almost perfect game.

“Cristiano is not just about the goals he scores. He also works for the team, defends and does many other things. Everyone recognises his work. He doesn't just score; he gives us extra in defence. He was spectacular today, as were the whole team. We defended well and they had almost no chances against us”.

Benzema
“He is a very important player, perhaps he is more important than ever. He does an excellent job. He scores, assists, and helps everyone play better. The forwards are doing a fantastic job, as are the midfielders and defenders. They all did very well, including those who came off the bench”.

Benzema's fatigue and the return of Bale
“For Karim it is normal that he has ended up fatigued. His work both in attack and defence has been great. He ended up being fatigued but he is fine. I think Gareth will train tomorrow and I hope he will feature in Saturday's game”.

Regrets over not resting CristIano?
“Yes, sometimes that is what's needed. The idea for a manager is that when you have a player like Cristiano it is sometimes necessary for him not to finish a game or not play at all. He is a player who always wants to play and be on the pitch. He wants to give what he has within him. We will see when we get him back”.
