"Real Madrid are a great team, they have a history of lifting trophies and a winning tradition", he added.Speaking to Realmadrid.com and Realmadrid TV, Senegalese power forward Maurice Ndour offered his first interview since joining the European champions, and discussed how it feels to be the latest addition to the Real Madrid roster: "I want to help the team in any way I can. I'm a player with a lot of energy and I hope I can show that on the court".
-
How are you feeling now that you've signed for Real Madrid?
I'm excited to be here. Real Madrid are a great team and everybody knows about them. They have a history of lifting trophies and a winning tradition, so I'm just excited to be a part of an organisation like Real Madrid.
-
How did you react when you heard that Real Madrid wanted to sign you?
Firstly I had to ask my agent again if it was true. He confirmed it to me, and I couldn't wait to get here and be a part of this organisation.
-
How would you define yourself on the court?
I'm a player with a lot of energy. Every time I step on the floor I try to open up a lot of things that my team-mates need, playing both outside and inside.
-
How can you apply here what you've learned from all your experiences in other countries?
I've lived in different countries and in all the places that I've been to, I can say that I've learned something that has helped me in my game and has given me more confidence. Everywhere that I've lived has been an adventure for me.
-
At the World Cup in Spain, you played for Senegal against some of the guys who are now your new colleagues...
Basketball is a small world; one year ago we were playing against each other and now some of them are about to be my team-mates. It's a small world and I'm happy to be here.
-
Ahead of your new life in Madrid, what are you looking forward to the most?
I want to help the team in any way I can. Everybody expects Real Madrid to win and I'm expecting to come here and win championships too.
-
You're only 23 and you have a bright future ahead of you. What would you say are your personal goals here at Real Madrid?
Winning a championship is one goal that I have in mind. For myself I don't have any personal accomplishments that I want to do. I think that if you win a championship it's good for all of us and I just want to be a part of that.
-
You speak four different languages; do you know any Spanish?
Un poquito. I'm learning and during my time here I'll get to learn the language.
-
And to finish up, could you send a message to the fans?
To all the fans of Real Madrid, I want to let you know that you're about to have a player with a hell of a lot of energy, you're about to see a lot of actions, and I hope you're excited to see me on the court. I'm ready to go.
